On Monday, June 10th, 2024, the Gold Foundation brought together its community of doctors, nurses, students, deans, corporate executives, patients, families, nonprofit partners, and supporters at the Gold Gala, a singular celebration of humanism in healthcare.

We welcomed back Gold Trustee Dr. Kimberly Manning, a beloved voice of humanism in healthcare, as the gala emcee, and to celebrate three visionary leaders who embody the ideal of placing human interests, values and dignity at the core of healthcare: Dr. Afaf Ibrahim Meleis, Michael J. Dowling, and Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha.

Gala Theme

The 2024 Gala theme was “Creating Healthy Communities through Humanism.”

The three 2024 medal honorees have used their influence to advocate powerfully for better health in their communities.

“Health is not just about what happens inside the hospital. Health is also about how hospitals engage with their communities, neighborhoods, and schools,” said Dr. Kathleen Reeves, President and CEO of the Gold Foundation. “These three amazing individuals have seen both the vibrancy and the disparities in their communities. Each honoree has used their talents, time, and opportunities to bring better health to the communities they serve. Humanism in healthcare is all about the person in front of you, the caregiver beside you, and the community around you.”
