2024 Gold Humanism Summit Call for Abstracts

We are pleased to invite you to apply to present at the 2024 Gold Humanism Summit: The Person in Front of You, February 29–March 2 in Atlanta, Georgia.

The 4th annual Gold Humanism Summit will convene our community members to explore best practices and strategies to fuel change and inspire action. This interprofessional, international event will be focused on igniting humanism to create the tangible changes necessary to heal the heart of healthcare.

***Please note that the period to submit an abstract for a workshop, lecture, or panel presentation has closed. However, we have extended the deadline to submit a poster or Gold Mining presentation through October 31.***

We are currently seeking posters and Gold Mining presentations on projects, programs, research, and initiatives in healthcare that demonstrate action-oriented approaches related to the following conference themes:

  • Humanism in action
  • Humanities
  • Communication and connection
  • Technology
  • Well-being
  • Trust
  • Diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism
  • Mentorship

We are also interested in projects that:

  • encourage interprofessional teamwork
  • reflect a broad range of healthcare professional perspectives and experience
  • demonstrate positive change as a result of public-private partnerships across all  sectors of the healthcare ecosystem and collaborations with community organizations
  • will be highly engaging and interactive, and embody one or more of the conference themes

Note that while we ask that you indicate the most appropriate format to present your work at the summit, should your abstract be selected, the conference committee may ask clarifying questions and will ultimately determine the accepted format.

Submissions are currently being accepted for the following formats:

  • Poster presentation
  • Gold Mining* presentation on GHHS day

*Presenting during the Gold Mining session is reserved for Gold Humanism Honor Society (GHHS) members only. Gold Mining is an opportunity to give shorter presentations to smaller audiences, who will rotate through a cycle of Gold Mining presentations held at round tables. Participants are encouraged to ask questions of the presenters and the more intimate experience fosters deeper dialogue. More details will be provided for selected projects.

Your Project

Requirements for the Abstract

Please be sure to include the following in your abstract, which shall be limited to 350 words, and attached as a Word document (not PDF):

  • What will the intended audience learn as a result of attending your session or reviewing your poster?
  • Clearly describe your project. Anyone reading your submission should have a solid understanding of the information that will be shared and what learning outcomes will be achieved. Consider why this information is important and how others can use it.
  • Clearly describe your intended audience. Who will benefit most from your session? We are seeking a variety of content reflecting different care settings, professional healthcare roles, and stages of career development.
  • What outcomes were realized as a result of your project? Ideally, sessions will include stories or case studies, lessons learned, metrics, and/or new strategies and practices. Sessions will be focused on sharing ideas, practical tools, and processes with measurable outcomes that illustrate achieved improvements.
  • How did you evaluate your project or measure outcomes?
  • What are some practical takeaways?  What are some lessons learned and next steps for carrying out the project?

If you are proposing a workshop format, please also include:

  • Description of format/structure
  • Describe any relevant experience with creating or facilitating a similar workshop.
  • Special requirements, such as whether you will need the Gold Foundation to help supply facilitators to carry out parts of the workshop
